FAQs
What does “shala” mean?
Shala comes from Sanskrit meaning “home” or “house.” In yoga tradition, it represents a sacred space for practice and community. In modern terms, it also means a gathering place where people come together to connect, move, and grow.
Do I need to bring my own mat and props for yoga and/or workshop?
You’re welcome to bring your own mat, but we also provide mats, blocks, bolsters, and other props for your use.
I’m new to yoga. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Our classes are designed for all levels, and teachers will offer modifications and guidance to support beginners as well as experienced practitioners. In fact, we have an Absolute Beginners class specially designed for new yogis who are curious about trying a studio but might feel a little shy.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Bare feet are best for practice. For ZenThai Shiatsu, please wear lightweight, comfortable clothing such as long pants and a t-shirt or top with sleeves. This ensures ease of movement and also respects the practice by minimising unnecessary skin-to-skin contact during bodywork. Sessions are performed fully clothed on a mat.
How do I book a class?
You can book online through our website. Simply select “Book Now” to select your appointment and follow the steps to purchase. Walk-ins are not available. Please book ahead as space is limited.
Where are you located?
We’re in Taringa near Perrin Park, just 10 minutes from Brisbane CBD and easily accessible from Toowong, St Lucia, Indooroopilly, Auchenflower, Milton, and surrounding suburbs. The full address will be shared via email after you’ve made your booking. If you did not receive an email, please contact us.
Do you offer private sessions?
Yes, we offer private group yoga sessions on request. Please contact us about your event and we will get back to you asap.
What is ZenThai Shiatsu?
ZenThai Shiatsu is a bodywork modality blending traditional Thai massage, Zen Shiatsu, and osteopathic techniques. It’s performed fully clothed on a mat and uses movement, stretching, and acupressure to restore balance and release tension.
Is parking available?
Yes, there is street parking and visitor parking in the basement. We recommend arriving a little early to find a spot and settle in.
How early should I arrive?
Arrive 10-15 minutes before class to get comfortable.
Do you offer class passes, memberships, or discounts?
Yes, we do! To support your ongoing practice, we offer:
5 Class Pass (valid for 3 months) – 15% off
2-Classes Per Week Pass – 10% off
These are perfect for those wanting to deepen their yoga journey. While memberships aren’t available just yet due to our intimate studio size, they’re something we plan to introduce as our community grows.
